Sam
Sam doesn’t need to travel far for a world-class workout. Living at The Harbour Row, he’s just a short stroll from UFC GYM Harbour. Mornings start with movement, not a commute – and that’s exactly how he likes it.
“There’s something about living here,” he says. “The waterfront, the light, the energy – it makes it easy to show up and get it done.”

A quiet walk, a clear head
By 6:55am, Sam is already walking the promenade. It’s quiet, with the city just starting to move and the water close. The gym’s glass-fronted façade reflects the sunrise, and even before stepping inside, Sam feels switched on.
“No traffic, no stress. I’m not rushing across town or squeezing in a workout between meetings. I just walk downstairs. AirPods in, and I'm in my zone. "

Heavy lifts, light space
Inside UFC GYM Harbour, the feel is bold and high-energy, but for Sam, it’s the light that stands out.
“There’s something almost ironic about a fight gym feeling so calm in the mornings,” he says. “It’s flooded with natural light, spotless, and quiet during the day.”
He starts with mobility on the turf and then moves into strength training. The gym is equipped with brand-new Technogym kit – treadmills, stairmasters, resistance machines, and a few hard-to-find favourites, like the standing abductor and pullover. “I like that it’s all here, but not overcrowded. You’re never fighting for space.” Today’s focus: back and legs. Pullover, Smith machine squats, and heavy dumbbell lunges. No sled, but plenty of space to move.

Spin to reset
Finishing with spin always feels good,” he says. “It’s a chance to reset after strength – cardio, headspace, and a clear start to the day.”
Upstairs, the spin studio is one of Sam's favourite spaces. Fifteen bikes face out to the harbour, with mirrored walls and a cool, pared-back aesthetic. It’s an easy way to round off the session and switch gears.

The Arm Bar ritual
After training, it’s a stop at the Arm Bar for a quick refuel – stocked with protein bars, water, and Sam's go-to: a banana Barebells Protein Milkshake.
“Every gym has that one thing that becomes part of your routine. For me, it’s this. I grab a shake, take a breath, and start to switch into work mode.”
As the morning moves on, the gym vibe begins to shift – the music picks up, and a few more locals arrive. Still calm, still clean – just with a little more energy.
Sauna and stillness
Before leaving, Sam always makes time for the sauna, tucked inside the spotless changing rooms.
“It’s what you need. Warmth, quiet, and space to just sit for a minute. I think people underestimate how powerful that pause is before a busy day.”

Harbour life
Sam's apartment is just a few minutes’ walk away. Sometimes, if time allows, he’ll grab a coffee at one of the waterfront cafés. The Harbour Row vibe is relaxed and low-key, with a community feel.
“It’s kind of like our neighbourhood gym,” he says. “Small, personal, not overrun. You start to recognise faces.”
Why it works
For Sam, fitness is about more than the workout; it’s about headspace, routine, and feeling like himself.
“I’m not training for anything specific. I just want to feel sharp, move every day, and enjoy where I live. Privilee makes that easy. There’s no hassle, just options.”
UFC GYM Harbour is the kind of place that works with your lifestyle – well-equipped, clean, calm when you need it to be, and close to home.
“It’s a small thing, having a gym on your doorstep, but it makes a big difference. When it’s that easy to get there, you don’t need to talk yourself into going.”
